Installation Instructions

Before you start

• Make sure that your Toon Photography Wall covering is intact and has not been damaged in transit. Unpack carefully.

STANDARD PAPER: For best results use Polycell, Solvite Extra Strong or Murabond wallpaper pastes, and follow the instructions on the pack.

TEXTURED PAPER: For best results use a “paste the wall” adhesive, such as Solvite Paste the Wall Wallpaper Adhesive.

• Paste the prepared area of wall, and apply your paper. No need for a paste table.

• Make sure that the area you are hanging your Toon Photography wall covering in is well-ventilated and at least 12°C (55°F). If you don’t feel confident in hanging the Toon Photography wall covering yourself, contact a professional decorator. (we are unable to replace due to user error)

PREMIUM PAPER: No paste required. Use a water spray bottle to spray the wall. Available from your local super market or hardware store.

• Make sure that you have adequate lighting - so that you can inspect the material properly while you are hanging it and after it is in position.

Surface preparation

• Scrub the wall area you are covering with a stiff bristle brush to remove all dirt and loose material.

• Clean your walls, using a detergent or sugar soap solution to remove any grease or surface marks. Allow to dry thoroughly before applying Toon Photography wall covering.

• Mould or algae on the surface should be treated with a fungicidal wash, using the instructions on the product. Allow to dry thoroughly before applying Toon Photography wall covering.

• Any holes, cracks or defects in the surface should be filled with good quality filler, smoothed out and allowed to dry.

• Remember: a dry surface is the right surface - so if you have to make repairs, be patient! Make sure your wall is completely dry before continuing.

• New or unpainted walls must be sealed with a PVA or similar wall sealant.

Hanging your wall covering

STANDARD

• Apply undiluted adhesive onto the back of the Toon Photography wall covering using a medium-pile paint roller. Only paste one drop (one length) at a time.

• Use a damp sponge to apply the Toon Photography wall covering to the prepared surface using a smooth up-and-down motion. Take care not to squeeze the adhesive out at the edges.

• Let your Toon Photography wall covering settle for about 15 minutes before trimming the top and bottom.

• To butt join drops of the Toon Photography wall covering, align the design top to bottom and work away from the butted edge with the same up-and-down motion using your soft sponge. You can also safely seal the butt joins using a small rubber roller along the join. Go easy with the roller, as overworking the join could cause damage to the edges.

• Wipe over the surface with a damp sponge to remove any adhesive residue.

TEXTURED PAPER

• Paste the pre-prepared wall evenly with the adhesive, not the whole surface, just the area that will cover the first strip.

• Align the top and bottom before “smoothing down” the wall coverings with a wallpaper brush. As the glue hasn’t dried yet, adjustments are still possible until it is aligned perfectly. Now smooth the wallcoverings again to remove any air bubbles and irregularities.

• Next paste the adhesive onto the area where the second strip will be hung. Starting from the top, slide your 2nd piece into alignment with the 1st.

• For final adjustments and fine details use a small brush with adhesive, a soft cloth and a small rubber roller. Do not overheat the room or open the windows while drying to prevent the air from blowing through. A slow, even and ambient drying method is recommended.

PREMIUM

• Wall needs to be sealed, either painted or at least one coat of primer applied to surface. When it’s time for a change, product can be easily removed from the wall in one piece

• Standard spray bottle can be used

• Fill spray bottle with tap water

• Turn nozzle to spray function

• Recommend water to be applied at rate of 100ml per 1 sqm

• Material can be re-positioned and re-aligned during first 10 minutes

• To butt join drops of the Toon Photography wall covering, align the design top to bottom and work away from the butted edge with the same up and down motion using your soft sponge. You can also safely seal the butt joins using a small rubber roller along the join. Go easy with the roller, as overworking the join could cause damage to the edges.

• Wipe over the surface with a damp sponge to remove any adhesive residue.
